Regular blog updates have been more challenging between work, partnerships with many companies via Google, and quiet periods as a public company.

It seems clear we have begun a new era, where crypto is no longer the next great thing. This was the year that AI hype really took off. I will do a deeper post in the near future. For now, I leave you for the year with some AI-generated artwork I made using MidJourney. I am both personally impressed and can also readily see the flaws in the images.

2023 predictions

I did well with some of my 2022 predictions, particularly with Crypto and Omicron in China. For next year (I have no knowledge of Google’s efforts in AI)

• Crypto: Bitcoin goes below 10k. Binance and/or Tether are indicted in the US.

• AI: AI education and therapy gain momentum but are far too early to scale.

• AI: Hype continues to grow. Startups struggle to build a moat on top of models like GPT-3.

• AI: AI models plus human refinement become a common way to create content.

• Gig economy wages go down after surging, as the economy cools off and labor shortage rebalances

• San Francisco sees a continued exodus of company HQs
